Credit EMV Fallback

Credit EMV fallback transactions occur when something causes an EMV card (chip-card or smart card) from successfullly processing.

Entry Methods :

  • EMV Fallback – Contact EMV Card, Fallback to Swiped.  Fallback reason can be ICC Read Error (Technical Fallback) or might be unknown.  See also next three
  • Fallback Last thru Chip – Magnetic stripe read, service code begins with ‘2’ or ‘6’ (meaning EMV), last transaction was successful Integrated Circuit read or was not an online transaction
  • Second Fallback Last Failed – Magnetic stripe read, service code begins with ‘2’ or ‘6’ (meaning EMV), last transaction was unsuccessful Integrated Circuit read (Technical Fallback).  Indicates at least two consecutive unsuccessful ICC reads of EMV cards.
  • Second Fallback MSR Only – Magnetic stripe read, service code begins with ‘2’ or ‘6’ (meaning EMV), last transaction was a magnetic strip transaction from a magnetic stripe only card
  • EMV Fallback No AID – Magnetic stripe read, service code begins with ‘2’ or ‘6’ (meaning EMV), current transaction went to Fallback due to AID Mismatch.
